How it works
Step 1: Register with our au pair agency
Step 2: Consultation
It’s time to start our relationship building! We’ll call you to have our first chat. During this phone call, we’ll endeavour to understand your unique family situation as best we can, and make sure we have a clear understanding of your top priorities, values and lifestyle. We will also happily answer any of your questions so you are prepared for the next steps to find a new au pair. You will need to make your activation fee payment at this time. We will email you payment instructions for the au pair cost.
Step 3: Interviews
We will send you our expertly selected shortlist of au pairs. Each au pair is presented with an introduction letter, photos and a complete application form. You can interview all of them, or only your favourite. It’s up to you. We recommend face-to-face Skype interviews. We’ll provide you with a handy interview guide, so you can rest assured you won’t miss important questions and set your family up for the best au pair care.
Step 4: Invite your au pair
Simply invite your preferred au pair, and we take care of the rest. We prepare your documents, while our partner agency organises the visa, flight booking and travel insurance for your au pair.
Step 5: Pre-arrival support
The first week can be a nerve-wracking time as everyone settles in, so we’ll call you one week before your au pair arrives to take you through our tips for making the transition easier. We’ll talk to you about cultural differences, how to help your au pair settle in to your family life and how to set clear expectations so you and your au pair know what to expect from each other every day.
Step 6: Au pair screening course
Au Pair Partners offers a one-day child protection and safeguarding screening course. This course trains au pairs on the basics of caring for your children, providing them with coping mechanisms for those difficult days and ideas on how to deal with a range of real-life situations and behaviours. It also offers your au pair ideas on what to do with the children each day and how to plan out their days/weeks. We also offer a defensive driving course for your au pair. If you will need them to transport your children, we highly recommend this course to provide them with confidence on our roads – and you with peace of mind.
Step 7: Ongoing support
After the first week, we’ll follow-up with a call to answer any questions you or your au pair may have. Some au pairs may find it difficult to ask you certain questions directly, so this call can give them the comfort of knowing they have other avenues of support to call on. We are more than happy to hear from you any time you need for the duration of your au pair’s placement.
We are there at every step of the journey and will:
- Help you with the interview process to find your perfect au pair partner
- Assist you with family agreements and pay structure
- Provide you with ongoing support to make sure both you and your au pair are happy
- Help the au pair settle into a new country and provide a support network
- Help you understand your au pair’s background and culture
- Provide tips on how to prepare for your new au pair
- Keep in constant communication throughout the placement to make sure your
- Partnership is working well and that your requirements have not changed.
